NAIDOC Week was jam-packed at DDHS, with staff getting out and about in community to Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud.
Starting on Sunday 7 July, we took part in the Health Expo at the NRL Deadly Cup Carnival. There, our Vaping is a Fool's Game video was launched, CEO Rob McPhee joined Deadly Vision's Shaun Tatipata to MC the day, and we spoke to heaps of families about our services as they came and went throughout the day.
On Monday morning (8 July 2024), our Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) team ran a stall at the Flag Raising Ceremony, before backing up to join our Communications, Child and Family Services, Elders Support Service and Mobile Clinic teams at the Danila Dilba Community Health and Family Day (Supported by Santos) at Jingili Water Gardens on Tuesday 9 July.
The event was a huge success, with something for all ages. From cultural performances on the Larrakia Nation stage, to local service stalls, a BBQ, ice-cream and heaps of slides, sports and activities in the Kid's Fun Corner, it was a day the really brought the community together!
Finally, on Friday 12 March, our staff took part in the NAIDOC Week March through Darwin City, before our SEWB team joined DDHS Chairperson Carol Stanislaus at the 2024 NAIDOC Gala Ball & Awards on Saturday 13 July. Special shoutout to DDHS staff member, Caleb Niki, who was awarded Sports Person of the Year!
More photos from all our DDHS supported NAIDOC events will be posted on social media.
