What to Expect at Your Bub's Check-up
Have you brought your young one/s in for Developmental Check at Danila Dilba before? If not, or if it's been a while, here's what you need to know…
Developmental Checks observe and monitor your bub's progress growing up. They are not a test, and there is no right or wrong answer – they just help our staff see how bub is going and work out if there are any ways we could give them a bit of extra support.
Our nurses and AHPs will look at bub's:
- Gross motor skills (their big movements using the larger muscles in their arms and legs – like sitting, crawling and walking).
- Fine motor skills (smaller movements using the muscles in their fingers and hands – the ones needed to build with blocks or draw).
- Communication skills (their language skills – what they can say and understand).
- Problem solving skills (how they play with toys – like completing puzzles).
- Personal social skills (their self-help skills, and how they interact with others).
