Research at Danila Dilba
Danila Dilba recognises that research plays an important role in achieving evidence-based improvement in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, health service delivery, and health outcomes. DDHS is committed to improving Indigenous health outcomes through internally driven research, as well as through partnering with external institutions across Australia to conduct research that aligns with DDHS Strategic Priorities.
DDHS is committed to research that:
- Is initiated, controlled, or directed by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people or has strong Aboriginal participation and leadership.
- Provides maximum benefit to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Greater Darwin region.
- Is within our organisational capacity without compromising on our service delivery.
- Provides opportunity for capacity building and has a strong focus on enhancing skills of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers.
DDHS commits to ensuring all research is in line with:
- Northern Territory Health and Menzies School of Health Research Human Research Ethics Committee (NT HREC)
- National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Ethical Guidelines for Research with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples
- Australian Institute for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) Code of Ethics
