Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Services (DDHS) is a not-for-profit, Aboriginal community-controlled organisation that is committed to providing culturally appropriate, comprehensive primary health care services and community development within the Biluru (Aboriginal) community of the Yilli Rreung (Greater Darwin) region in the Norther Territory.

We are focused on acute care, immunisation, chronic disease management, women’s health, men’s health, child and maternal health and sexual health.

We also provide a range of community programs in areas including health promotion, mental health, social and emotional wellbeing, and alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting opportunity to provide senior leadership for the delivery of Social and Emotional Wellbeing services to Aboriginal people across the Greater Darwin Region. This position oversees the DDHS SEWB strategy, operational planning, service model and workforce. Reporting to the Executive Manager of Health Promotion and Program Integration, the role is responsible for developing, implementing, and continually improving DDHS SEWB services to ensure excellence in the delivery of services to community. The role ensures all DDHS SEWB work is evidence based, trauma-informed, culturally safe and grounded in community and culture. Working collaboratively across DDHS, the position provides leadership on refining SEWB services, systems and initiatives as well as builds awareness, organisational and staff capability in trauma-informed approaches for all teams, both clinical and non-clinical.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide senior leadership for Danila Dilba Health Service’s (DDHS) Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) service with ) professional standards, accreditation, quality, clinical safety, service development and evaluation.
  • Undertake SEWB strategic and operational planning, at organisational, client and community levels.
  • Ensure the DDHS SEWB model is client centred, evidence based, trauma-informed and culturally safe.
  • Provide trusted strategic advice to DDHS staff and Executive Management Team on SEWB systems, initiatives, and activities.
  • Develop key internal partnerships to strengthen integrated care within and across the organisation, including referral pathways, intake processes and client journey mapping.
  • Oversee compliance of SEWB grant management including writing reports, preparing statistical and narrative reports, budget development and monitoring, and attending grant meetings.
  • Monitor SEWB performance to ensure deliverables and targets are met including financial, quality, staff, compliance, and client outcomes are all subject to continuous quality improvement.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications with relevant experience in SEWB, mental health, AOD, psychology, social work or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management or leadership role within a health care or community services organisation.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing SEWB, mental health, or other relevant discipline service systems and models.
  • Demonstrated experience with quality and compliance frameworks in the SEWB, mental health and/or AOD sector.
  • Experience in building and maintaining an engaged and high-quality multidisciplinary team within a positive team culture in a service delivery environment.
  • An understanding of colonisation and its impact on the wellbeing of Indigenous people.
  • High level administrative and organisational skills including experience managing workloads within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
  • Experience in working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service.
  • Experience managing relationships with funding bodies including state and Federal Government.

Demonstrated experience and competency in working with Communicare.
