Come and join our motivated team as a Family Partnership worker focused on delivering a home-based support program for expecting mums and their bubs.  If you have the ability to engage with our clients, then we will train you in the role.

WHO WE ARE

Established in 1991, Danila Dilba Health Service (DDHS) is an Aboriginal community-controlled organisation providing comprehensive primary health care to Biluru communities in the Yilli Rreung Region of the Northern Territory. We aim to improve the physical, mental, spiritual, cultural, and social wellbeing of our clients through innovative comprehensive programs based on principles of equity, access, empowerment, determination, and collaboration.

Since 2017, Danila Dilba has been funded to implement the Australian Nurse Family Partnership Program (ANFPP).  It is a sustained home visiting program that supports women pregnant with an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait child and family to improve their own health and the health of their baby.  This is a nationally funded program that has been established since 1991.

The ANFPP is a voluntary program designed to support the mother from pregnancy up until the child is two years of age, with regular home visits from a Nurse Home Visitor and Family Partnership worker.

Part of this role entails specific ANFPP training, some delivered online, some of it face to face, so applicants need to be willing to complete this (we pay) and be able to travel interstate from time to time for training.  This program is also great at maintaining the networks for you to be able to meet and communicate with other service providers delivering the program.

Come and join our highly regarded team.  For more information on this program watch the video attached/below. https://youtu.be/6GmxWg6_2cE?t=34

WHAT WILL YOU FOCUS ON

Our Family Partnership workers receive referrals (mainly via the midwife hospital network) and contact our potential clients to engage them in the program.  Being the first point of contact you will then visit the clients (with a Home Nurse) to support them through the pregnancy, infancy, and toddlerhood. This is a voluntary based participation program that provides regular home visits, advice, education, and information to both the mum and her support network.

Working with a motivated and experienced team you will assist our first-time mums in a strengths-based, solutions focused way and that is culturally appropriate.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCEED

  • This is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified position, hence we will only accept candidates that identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.

  • Passion and dedication to mums and bubs.

  • Experience working with community and in client focussed roles (in a community health context would be highly desirable).

  • The ability to work effectively in a team and in partnership with our Home Nurses and be solutions focussed.

  • Be confident and engaging to be able to engage clients that have little understanding or knowledge of our program.

  • The ability to demonstrate cultural understanding and sensitivity of our clients and be able to translate that to on-the-job application.

  • An adaptive nature and the be open to learning.

  • Current NT driver’s licence and ability to obtain an NT Working with Children clearance.
