As our one and only podiatrist you will work within our multidisciplinary Active Mob team, comprising of physiotherapy, dietetics, diabetes education and pharmacy who deliver culturally appropriate services to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community of Greater Darwin.

This role is a part of the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) Top End Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Diabetes Related Foot Complications Program, aiming to reduce the prevalence of diabetic foot ulcers and subsequent amputations.

You will work closely with the Royal Darwin Hospital High Risk Foot Service, Northern Territory Primary Health Network (NTPHN) and be supported by the Program Coordinator at Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT).

This is not your average podiatrist position.  While you will be treating clients, you will also be actively involved in their booking process and ensuring that a wholistic approach to their health is actioned, via internal and external referral pathways.

In addition to client care, you will also be involved with the research and reporting requirements that are part of our funding arrangements.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Podiatry, and current AHPRA podiatry registration and professional indemnity.
  • 5 years postgraduate experience to enable incumbent to deal with the complexity of this role and ability to operate as the sole podiatrist in our organisation.
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in a primary health context, working under current evidence-based practice guidelines with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated skill working in a primary care setting, the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a sound understanding of your role as a podiatrist in chronic disease self-management for clients.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the philosophy and practice of an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation and the ability to work sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
